Abstract

Excessive carbon emissions are recognized as a significant contributor to climate change and environmental degradation. Achieving carbon neutrality has become an imperative for sustainable development. This study examined carbon emission reduction mechanisms in the construction industry, focusing on collaborative efforts among key stakeholders to achieve balance, coordination, and sustainability in carbon emission control. Employing Stackelberg game theory, the study analyzed the strategic interactions among the government, enterprises, and the public in collaborative efforts to reduce carbon emissions. It explored their mutual influences from a macro-scale perspective, examining the strategic choices made by each stakeholder and the specific impacts of various parameters on the key decisions. The study employed MATLAB software to simulate the effects of six key driving policies on system evolution. This research aimed to provide a robust theoretical foundation and practical guidance for establishing cross-sector collaborative mechanisms to reduce carbon emissions from the construction industry.
